Updates 'n' corrections (17 Apr 2012)

The director of BIONIC NINJA (1986) is currently credited as Godfrey Ho Jeung-keung. However, by virtue of the fact it contains extensive footage from THE DARING KUNG-FU REFUGEE (1984 - see details at this blog entry), Bionic should include a co-director credit for Refugee helmer Wong Ka-hung. Similarly, AMERICAN NINJA: THE MAGNIFICENT (1988) is co-directed by Kim Jeong-yong, since the film was built around extensive footage from Kim's ARAHAN (1986).

It would seem BORN A NINJA (1986) isn't a cut-n-paste job after all, but a bona fide Hong Kong production in its own right. The only thing now missing from this entry is the original Chinese title, which currently eludes my research.

DEADLY SHAOLIN LONGFIST isn't an AKA for THE RETURN OF THE SHAOLIN CHEF (1982), but an AKA for BUDAE-HAENG IN MU-RIM TEMPLE (1982).

DRAGON AGAINST VAMPIRE has now been identified as the dubbed HK version of Korean film HONG-DO MIRROR (1985 - see details of this new entry here).

DRAGONEER 11: THE ULTIMATE is an AKA for SHAOLIN TEENAGE HEROINES (1981).

Pay attention at the back there - this one is a little more tangled than usual!! (deep breath) DRAGONEER 9: THE INCREDIBLE and FIST OF THE GOLDEN MONKEY aren't AKA's for DAE-BOK'S MARTIAL ARTS (1980), they're AKA's for MARTIAL ARTS FOR REVENGE (1980 - see details of new entry here). However, DAE-BOK'S MARTIAL ARTS has gained a new AKA - DRAGONEER 10: THE REMARKABLE.

DRAGONEER 1: THE EXTREME is an AKA for THE SSANG YONG ULTIMATUM (1978).

DRAGONEER 3: THE INVINCIBLE is an AKA for SA-DAE-YONG-IUE-MOON (1978).

DRAGONEER 2: THE SUPREME is an AKA for HORIM TEMPLE DAETONG-GWAN (1978).

Until now, the filmography has been missing a cross-reference for EAGLE CLAWS CHAMPION, an AKA for the Taiwanese film ON THE BLACK STREET (1974).

The film currently listed under the title HEAVEN'S HELL should actually be listed as OFFICIAL EXTERMINATOR 2: HEAVEN'S HELL (currently an AKA). The copyright year is changed from 1988 to 1987. Also, the film is a cut-n-paste effort, wedding footage from another (unidentified) film to newly-shot material for international distribution outside Hong Kong.

MAJESTIC THUNDERBOLT is currently listed as the dubbed, re-edited Hong Kong version of an unidentified Korean film from 1985. In fact, it's a 'cut-n-paste' HK movie from 1984, incorporating newly-shot material with huge chunks of footage from Taiwanese film RED RATTLESNAKE (1982 - see details of new entry here).

Also, NINJA DRAGON is currently listed as the dubbed, re-edited Hong Kong version of an unidentified Korean film from 1986. In fact, it's another 'cut-n-paste' HK movie from 1985, incorporating newly-shot material with wads of footage from Taiwanese film DARK TRAP (1982 - see details of new entry here).

The Asian film used as a template for NINJA HUNT (1987) was Taiwanese in origin, but remains unidentified. Same goes for NINJA OPERATION: LICENSED TO TERMINATE (1987) and NINJA: THE PROTECTOR (1986).

Contrary to what I'd originally written in the blog entry for 8 Apr 2012 (now amended), the original title of the film listed as Paa Lohgan is ฝ่าโลกันต์. Also, the English title is AGAINST THE WORLD, and that now becomes the primary title (Paa Lohgan is discarded).

Based on a personal viewing of the film, the copyright date of THERE BE DRAGONS is changed from 2011 to 2010.

The alternative title of TWELVE GATES OF HELL (1980) is CHAMP AGAINST CHAMP and not Champ vs. Champ as currently listed.
